H2Ocean Participated at Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Event Hosted by Duke Cancer Institute

Duke Cancer Institute hosted its Healing from Head and Neck Cancer patient education program on April 18, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina, bringing together cancer survivors, clinicians, and support groups to focus on recovery and improving quality of life after treatment.

The event created a highly engaging environment, with strong participation from head and neck cancer patients and survivors. Discussions centered on survivorship challenges and practical strategies to manage life after treatment. Key topics included advances in immunotherapy, ongoing clinical trials, and the importance of a multidisciplinary care approach involving oncology, nutrition, and rehabilitation specialists.

A major focus of the program was oral health and its direct impact on patient recovery. For individuals undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, or surgical treatment, maintaining a healthy oral environment is essential in managing oral side effects (Chemo Mouth) such as mucositis, dry mouth, oral sensitivity, inflammation, and risk of infection. The sessions emphasized the importance of gentle, non-irritating oral care solutions as part of daily survivorship routines.

The program was led by Dr. Walter Lee, Professor and Chief of Staff in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences at Duke University Medical Center and Co-Director of the Head and Neck Program at Duke Cancer Institute. He was joined by Dr. Jared Robbins, Professor of Radiation Oncology at the Duke University School of Medicine, whose work focuses on precision radiation therapy approaches that aim to preserve essential oral and functional outcomes.

H2Ocean participated as a Silver Sponsor, supporting the event’s mission to improve patient education and survivorship care. The H2Ocean booth attracted significant attention, with many patients and caregivers engaging in conversations about oral care during and after cancer treatment. Complimentary samples of Red Sea salt based Healing Rinse Mouthwash were provided, offering attendees sea salt based mineral rich, alcohol free, natural mouthwash option designed to support oral comfort and healing.

Dr. Rajiv Saini, Chief Scientific Officer, H2Ocean, attended the event and interacted directly with patients, sharing insights on the role of natural oral care solutions in supporting recovery and maintaining oral health. “Survivorship is about restoring quality of life, not just extending it. Oral health plays a central role in that journey, especially for head and neck cancer patients,” said Dr. Saini. H2Ocean’s commitment to oral health in cancer care extends beyond individual events. Company continues to support cancer survivorship initiatives through ongoing product donations, helping patients access gentle and effective oral care solutions throughout their treatment and recovery journey. The event also featured patient stories, peer support sessions, and expert led discussions, reinforcing the importance of education, community, and access to supportive care in improving long-term outcomes for cancer survivors.
